Pervasive computing devices goes beyond the realm of personal computers: they can be almost any device, either mobile or embedded in almost any type of object imaginable, from clothing to tools to appliances to cars to homes to the human body to your coffee mug, all communicating through increasingly interconnected network of devices.

Pervasive computing attempts to take the computing out of a specified, restricted place on our desktop environment, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity devices in the ensuing global environment. It aims to combine current network technologies with wireless computing, voice recognition, internet capability and artificial intelligence to create an environment where unobstructed and convenient access of information is possible. Pervasive computing is still and emerging area of computing where different viewers see different subjective opportunities in this emerging market space and it will have distinct forms of adoption depending on how people behave socially.

Amirta actively involves in research in pervasive computing in various areas to develop devices that are cost effective and resourceful, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity keeping an Indian perspective in mind. Many of our research works including Amrita Operation System (real-time processing) and Amrita Telematics falls under the purview of pervasive computing.
