Amrita’s Hospital Information System will take healthcare delivery within BARC from an opinion based to an evidence based system, there by improving the quality of health care.”

Commenting on the MoU, Dr. P.Venkatrangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham said “The Hospital Information System (HIS) is a superb demonstration of AMRITA’s Leadership in Research and Development of State-of- the- Art Technologies – particularly those that synergistically blend and apply Information Technology to the field of Medicine, Healthcare, etc. This landmark agreement by BARC to deploy AMRITA’s HIS, validates AMRITA’s unique approach of carrying out research into areas of immense societal importance, and then developing real-life systems that are technologically the best even by international standards, all by AMRITA’s own students and engineers, all under the direct guidance of our Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (AMMA).”

The Hospital Information System (HIS) from Amrita known as Amrita HIS is based on the patent-pending HMOS (Healthcare Management Operating System) framework. This enables Amrita HIS to be very cost effective yet provide the complete functional needs of a hospital. The Amrita Hospital Information System manages all the patient information from patient registration to discharge. The various sub-modules, seamlessly integrated, cover all the hospital transactions related to the patients. Amrita HIS was developed and deployed at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, a 800 Bed Super Specialty Hospital in Kochi.
