 Amrita Technologies Showcase UMS at Confederation of Indian Industry Event :
Amrita Technologies showcased its path-breaking product, the Amrita University Management System (AUMS) at a one-day Interactive workshop on “Effective Usage of Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) in Educational Institutions” organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Hotel Residency, Coimbatore on 7 August, 2010. This workshop organized by India’s premier business association, CII attracted more than 100 correspondents, principals and representatives of various universities, colleges and schools.

Mr. Raghu Raman, CEO, Amrita Technologies was the lead speaker for the session on “Campus Management System – Advantages of User Perspective”. In his talk, he presented the challenges and complexity that were faced while implementing the AUMS in-house at Amrita University, a multi-disciplinary, multi-campus university with 5 campuses, 14 schools, 150 programmes, 2000 faculty and 15,000 students. He also touched upon the integration of this UMS with the popular AMRITA Hospital Information System (HIS) and how it has been successfully deployed at various parts of the country in particular all government medical colleges and hospitals in Maharashtra. He unveiled plans to offer the healthcare informatics suite in a cloud computing format.
Thereby, hospitals could reduce their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and subscribe to these services making it affordable for small and medium size players. Amrita HIS is perhaps the only healthcare Solution available in the world which has built largely based on Open source technologies. |
This session was chaired by Dr. A. Selvakumar, Joint Correspondent of Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore. The workshop also addressed various issues including learning management systems, new delivery mechanisms, case study on Moodle and creation of digital content with speakers from both academia and industry. Prominent speakers included Dr. K. Karunakaran, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore; Mr. R. Venugopal, GM, Robert Bosch; Mr. KS. Karthik, CEO, 24X7 Learning and Dr. G. Srinivasan of IIT Madras.
This is the second major event in which Amrita Technologies is showcasing its innovations. In December, 2009, Amrita HIS was showcased at the AMRITA-IBM International Conference on Cloud Computing, Smart Grid and Green IT held at Amrita University, Coimbatore campus. This was one of the first international conferences in Cloud Computing in India.
