Amrita Technologies Showcases Hospital Informatics Suite (HIS) on a cloud at International conference :
Amrita Technologies showcased Amrita Healthcare Informatics Suite (HIS) in a cloud computing environment at the AMRITA-IBM International Conference on Cloud Computing, Smart Grid and Green IT held at the Coimbatore campus of AMRITA University on 22 and 23 December, 2009. An international conference on this futuristic trend in computing was being held for the first time in India.
Amrita HIS developed by Amrita Technologies is a comprehensive software solution that allows a holistic approach within and across clinical segments, delivering solutions with the innovation and synergy necessary to help you move forward in today's changing healthcare environment. Dubbed as the “Linux of Healthcare solutions”, Amrita HIS has been deployed at several leading hospitals and medical colleges like Grant, Gokulam, JJ, Sassoon and all government medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra. The IBM Virtual Computing facility consisting of Blade severs at the Amritapuri campus was utilized as the data centre for the cloud demonstrations. The proof of concept presentation by Mr. Robert Schwentkler of Amrita Technologies was an eye-opener for the conference delegates as it demonstrated the successful deployment of a complex and large enterprise application on a cloud.
Many participants from industry were very excited at this cloud model shown by Amrita Technologies and conference deliberations also spoke of this being a game-changer for all enterprises. Other innovations from AMRITA researchers like Interactive E-learning system on a cloud were also presented.
In this conference, 25 scholarly papers and invited talks on topics like Cloud infrastructure, applications, collaboration and storage, MapReduce, BigTable, resource management techniques, Green IT and wireless grid were presented by industry experts and researchers in this field from leading IT companies and universities like IBM, Intel, Google, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Brocade, NetApp, Zoho, Infosys and University of California. Over 400 participants from industry and academia participated in the conference. InMage and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) co-sponsored this conference. |
