Central Sterile Services Department or (CSSD) is a concept, a set pattern for sterilization of goods. The concept has been accepted and recognized, it needs time to eventually enter every hospital. It is not that the hospitals not having a CSSD cannot function, but CSSD ensures quality control in a much better way. In hospitals with no CSSD, the job of sterilization is given to people like OT attendants who are not well qualified for the job thereby affecting the quality of work.
Traditional methods of sterilization are Steam (High Vacuum Pulsing), Ethylene Dioxide, Chemical, Gamma Irradiation and Gas Plasma. There is a constant effort to bring out safer sterilizers and make them more reliable. Sterilization involves a lot of variables hence the achievement of sterility should be to minimize the chances of material not getting sterile.
Amrita Sterile Services Management System (ASSMS) helps you to achieve a theoretical 100 per cent sterility, but practically achievement of true sterility is a factor that follows the law of chance, as such we can achieve up to 99.99% sterility.
ASSMS functionalities include:
Creation of sets. Recording of unsterile items. Keeping track of the steam sterilization details. Record the details of ETO sterilization. Collects the data about the Biological indicator monitoring-ETO/ Steam. Keeping track of the distribution of the sterilized items. Report Generation.
